Today will be spent upcycling old sheets into useful things, and of course I'll be selling a lot of them on Etsy. Like this one:
My daughter is madly in love with the Care Bears. My mother-in-law gave her a set of pink Care Bear sheets for her bed. The sad thing was that the sheets were for a toddler bed and my big girl has graduated to a full size bed. My daughter, missing her sheets, got into the habit of digging them out of the basket of bedding and wrapping them around herself like a toga.
So, in true the Sound of Music form I decided that I could take what was laying around the house and make her some play clothes. Hence; Alana's new dress!
The dress is made from the sheets, with cute little ties from a play hat that doesn't fit anymore. My daughter insisted on wearing it immediately (she sat impatiently while I was cutting and sewing, stroking the fabric and asking when she could have it back) so I haven't trimmed off the excess threads or pressed the seams. In any case, I think that it's an adorable little thing for her to wear and I purposefully made it two sizes too big so she can wear it for a while.
